yesterday, i finished up my Third Born’s owl quilt. the actual quilting took me alot longer than anticipated.. i used invisible thread on the top, and it kept breaking and getting snagged in my machine. i also had a hard time managing the bulk of the quilt while going around and around and around in squares. but the effect is just what i had in mind, and it looks even better now that’s been through the washer and dryer. Third Born slept with it on her bed last night!
i have enough of all the fabrics left over that i may make a smaller (9 blocks) baby quilt similar to this one. but instead of quilting it in concentric squares, i may try quilting parallel vertical lines down through all of the borders, then go back and do all the horizontals.. it would make a little grid pattern where they intersect, which would be neat too… and alot easier to do.
here’s the front (minus binding)..
and the back, with the binding.

Very nice! The baby version idea sounds lovely too.
